Canine Obedience and Handling

Obediednce and Handling courses are designed to teach you how to train your dog to respond to cues. In a group setting you and up to 7 other handlers will work with the trainer to learn obedience and handling skills. Over the series you will learn how to effectively communicate and build a bond with your best friend. You will start with foundation cues like sit, down, and stay in the Basics course, and build to off leash lessons in the Advanced course. Each course is covered in detail below.

Beginner

1 Hour Weekly for 6 Weeks.

 

Our basic obedience course is designed to teach your dog good manners and obedience in the home. A good foundation starts with good communication and a lasting bond of friendship. This course teaches you and your canine companion a common language that is natural for them, and easy for each of you to learn. Along with the cues listed below you will also learn bonding exercies, troubleshooting bad behavior, and understanding canine behavior and communication.

Intermediate

1 Hour Weekly for 6 Weeks

 

Our intermediate course is designed to get you and your canine companion out into the world together. We will expand on the foundation skills learned in the beginner class and introduce advanced impulse control by adding distractions to the training routine. You'll learn to use a flirt pole as a training device, and a fun way to use your dog's natural play drive as a training opportunity.

You must be able to demonstrate the skills learned in the Beginner course to take this course.

• Polite Introductions

• Walking in a Crowd

 

When you complete this class your dog will qualify for a free CGC test. If your dog does not pass we will work with you at no additional charge until they pass.

 

Advanced

1 Hour Weekly for 6 weeks.

 

Shed the leash and teach your dog to live life by your side. The goal for this course is to get your dog off leash wherever possible. We will be adding the final touch to your training by adding distance to all known cues. By successfully completing this class you will no longer need the leash. 

You must be able to deomonstrate the skills learned in the Beginner and Advanced course to take this course.
