The phoenix has historically been a sign for transformation, renewal, and rebirth. Did you know that the leading cause of dog surrender to shelters is caused by completely solvable obedience and behavior issues? How many times have you looked at another dog and wished your dog would behave just as well? At Phoenix Canines we believe that every dog can be transformed to become a well behaved pet. With a little work, patience, and dedication you and your dog can renew your relationship, transcend the owner/dog mantra, and truly become best friends.
We use only non-adversive positive training techniques.
Positive reinforcement dog training is a friendly, non-punitive method of teaching your dog to perform behaviors using treats, toys, or other positive actions as a
reward. Rewarding appropriate dog behavior makes that behavior more likely to occur in the future, and is one of the most powerful tools you can use to shape or change your dog's actions. It not only
teaches your dog what behaviors you desire (as well as those you don't) in a humane manner, but also creates stronger bonds between you and your dog. There is no physical corrections or punishment
used with this style of training. No shock collars, prong collars, choke collars, or slip leads. The only punishment for your dog not performing is lack of a reward, and that will motivate them to
work with you, not in fear of you!
Training is a lifetime of dedication to your dog. When we ask for a cue, we are putting your dog to work. Don't think of the food reward as a bribe, think of it as a
paycheck! Don't worry, you won't be using food rewards and treats for the rest of your dogs life just to get them to do what you want. Once your dog is familiar with the cues, we will
begin trading the food reward for real life rewards like verbal praise and petting!
With this style of training you can look forward to a well mannered, more confident dog that will want, and work, to please you.
